Last week I got word of a pretty special show at Nashville's Third and Lindsley. Charles Kelley, Lady Antebellum singer/songwriter, would be performing as his alter ego, Dick Fantastic.
Lady Antebellum is currently on maternity leave while Hillary Scott is at home with her new baby girl. That leaves a lot of downtime for Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, also of Lady A. The two joined forces to be part of a five-piece band they coined as Dick Fantastic and the Fabulous Four Skins. Yep, you read that right, Dick Fantastic and the Fabulous Four Skins!
The group, led by Kelley (aka Dick) doesn't just have a killer name. They also bring some wicked outfits to the show! Kelley was spotted wearing a mullet wig, headband, red zebra striped shirt and an über original zebra fanny pack. This goes hand in hand with their awesomely 80s show. Dick Fantastic and the Fabulous Four Skins played an array of covers from Prince, Michael Bolton and Lionel Ritchie.
They had a good sense of humor during the set, Kelley even joked that people “say we look a lot like those guys from Lady Antebellum. I hate that band.”
The humor didn't stop there as the group gave the crowd a taste of their crude band intro song. It was far from G-rated and gathered lots of giggles from the concertgoers.
If you get a chance to check out Dick Fantastic and the Fabulous Four Skins while Lady Antebellum is on break, you won't be disappointed. Just don't forget to pack your dance moves!
